The Coalition for Citizen Diplomacy (CCD) is organizing the Second National Summit on Citizen Diplomacy in partnership with the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy. The Center, founded in July of 2006 and headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, promotes opportunity for all Americans to be citizen diplomats and affirms the indispensable value of citizen involvement in international relations. The U.S. Center will sponsor its first national awards ceremony at the Summit.

The 2008 National Summit on Citizen Diplomacy will feature Keynote Speaker Dick Martin, author of the book Rebuilding Brand America. Published in January 2007, the book presents case studies of American business abroad and describes what America must do in order to restore our international reputation. The National Summit will feature a number of other speakers, representing a variety of fields but all dedicated to the promotion of citizen diplomacy.

During the National Summit there will be various sessions focusing on Foreign Assistance, Media, Education & Youth, and the Future of Citizen Diplomacy. A National Awards Ceremony will be held on February 12 at the National Portrait Gallery, American Art Museum to celebrate and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the cause of citizen diplomacy. The Second National Summit on Citizen Diplomacy will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC. The registration deadline for this event is February 4, 2008.  The hotel deadline for this event is January 15, 2008.  Beginnning November 1, you can register for the Nation Summit here or by mail.
